I changed the screen to my A1554 Apple Watch. When taking the shattered screen off, I didn't realize there was some kind of a sensor so I tore it off. I replaced the screen with a new one and assembled the watch since I didn't have the a new sensor. Now, however, force touch is still working just fine. What's the purpose of that adhesive ring? Do I need to get one?

The adhesive ring in the Apple Watches, is there for cushion on the display with the 3D Touch sensor. That, and the other adhesive ring around the outer most part of the display is there for water resistance. But it is safe to say that if you replace the screen, your watch won't likely be water resistant anymore..

Okay, so it affects more to a water resistance. I still don't understand how it's tied to force touch or why it has a connector. The only problem the watch has atm is that the force touch is a bit sensitive (but I think that 'cause there's nothing between the screen and the body other than 3 drops of glue).
If this is the case, I think I'm gonna glue the screen to the body then and finish the job.

I just recently repaired a series 4 Apple Watch screen shattered so badly it didn’t work. I replaced the touch sensor and screen and it boots up but forced touch will not work. Any suggestions? I am at a loss at what to do. I have tried everything forced reset, new screen and touch sensor but still the same result. What am I missing? I have fixed several of these without a hitch.
