Hello Larry Gonder, my name is Sammy. I am from Puerto Rico. The problem is because all the App permissions are not activated. Try this, it worked for me.
On your phone,
Go to Settings >Apps, Contacts, Permissions, SMS>
Finally, make sure all permissions are turned on, even SMS.

Hi Larry, most probably it could be permission issues, im not sure if it works, but try this
On your phone,
Go to Settings >Apps, tap Menu>
Show System, select Contacts, then Permissions, and make sure all permissions are turned on.
