5K LCD Cable question

I recently purchased a 2015 iMac already disassembled with a cracked screen.

I purchased a replacement screen that came with the display power cable and temperature sensor. I did notice the display data cable below the FaceTime camera was empty. I also noticed the port on the motherboard was also empty. When testing out the screen without taping, I connected the display power cable and attempted to power up, Nothing!

I just need to verify that this cable is required and is in fact the missing link. The screen is the LM270QQ1 (SD)(B1), EMC 2834.

You may want to review this IFIXIT guide to identify the cables iMac 英特尔 27 英寸 Retina 5K 显示屏更换

Sounds like you're missing the displays data cable. Let us know if thats correct, you might want to take a picture if you're not sure.

Here's the correct screen: iMac 5K Retina LCD Display, 27inch Late 2015 A1419 - P/N 923-00093 and the data cable: Display Port Cable, iMac 5k 27inch A1419 - P/N 923-00093

Here's the FaceTime camera parts:

  • FaceTime camera P/N 923-00088
  • Camera/Microphone cable P/N 923-00091

Exactly! The replacement screen came with the display power cable installed. I moved the temperature sensor from the back of the cracked monitor into the new one. The DISPLAY DATA CABLE is MIA. I ordered the cable (P/N 923-00093). There are two cables for 2015 models. I have the late 2015 (5k Retina display). Thank you for the quick reply.

Hi Ivan, I have iMac 27 “ 5K Late 2014 without LCD, when I installed the new LCD and the new LCD Flex Cable, it does not turn on, Black screen…but with external monitor iMac works perfectly…

The two cables different for 2015 models cause the malfunction?

THANKS

I have exactly the same scenario here on the same model. Before I am spending further money on parts that won't fix my problem , I'd like to check whether the cable is indeed the problem. Did you find an answer to your above question?

Also, LED4 is not on. Will it stay 'off' when no cable is attached?

Thanks

Does the system work with an external monitor? I would start there. The system will be in safe Mode so it won't run at full clocking and the fan's will be racing you still should see the boot up and have access to the drive. If that fails see if you can connect to it from a second system via Target Disk Mode. Follow this guide Understanding the Applications for Target Disk Mode getting access to the iMac's disk drive. Can you do that?
