Earpiece Speaker after screen repair: No audio

After repairing a Nexus 5x LCD/Digi I am not able to get audio out of the earpiece speaker.

I can briefly get audio on calls if I plug in headphones and remove them. This gets the earpiece speaker working for a couple seconds and then it crackles out and stops working again.

I have replaced the earpiece speaker and the headphone jack twice each with no different results.

have wiped cache partition.

have ensured that contact points on both speaker and headphone jack are connecting with the motherboard.

I am beginning to think this is a software glitch, but am out of ideas for troubleshooting.

I was unable to find much online about this issue (some stuff here and there, but not much)

Anyone else encountered this or familiar with the problem?

If so, any insight?
