iPhone Doesn't Boot Up, Rescue Data

Hi,

I updated some apps and suddenly the iPhone SE crashed every night while charging. When I woke up I had to hard reset the device to make it work again. Then everything was ok.

After three nights it crashed again but a hard reset didn't do anything. The screen remains black.

Recovery mode is possible but iTunes can only reset, not update (grey button). And the display remains black, no Apple logo visible. Display broken?

Apple Support at the store can't help. They're pretty sure it's a hardware defect, not a software problem.

USB digital multimeter shows 0 to 0.33 A instead of 1.3. Maybe because the battery is already full? Or broken?

I don't have a backup of my data.

What can I do aside from giving my phone to a professional data recovery company? Do you have any idea why it doesn't boot up?

Instead of "professional data recovery company" I would look one that specializes in Apple devices. Most likely there is some simple logic board effects they will be able to fix and get your data, and perhaps even the phone.

try changing the battery

I don't think changing the battery will do much, iv seen an iPhone go into recovery mode from a bad battery but not dfu mode. If it's in dfu mode something major has gone wrong.

The phone is in dfu mode and not recovery mode. This is why there's no update option. There arnt an awful lot of components that will knock an iPhone into dfu mode, as a board will still happily boot with a lot of the ics installed on the board. My bet is the nand requires reballing by the things you have told us. Other than that the cpu / ram has possibly had it.

I'd send it to iPad rehab, sts telecom etc, either of those should be able to sort it. I wouldn't send it to a data recovery company, you need a place that specialises in board repair like the two above suggestions.
