Why is it that all of usb ports are not producing enough power
two of the ports on the left side are the ones not producing enough power to read external devices
the other-one on the right side is completely down
this started just after connecting a usb cable with a touch on the wires
Can you please explain what you mean by a usb cable "with a touch on the wires"? Perhaps a photo would help.
A USB port is designed to survive quite a lot of abuse such as short circuits, but not being zapped by a voltage above 5V. Some external hard disks and CD/DVD drives take more current than a USB port can deliver, but will never harm it.
