Unresponsive and switching between code and silver apple screen!

I was trying to erase an app and i didn't do it right. I was holding down the circle button and touching the screen. My ipod then froze on that screen. A few seconds later it switched to the code screen. I thought it was alright and tried to press in the code. It would not respond. Then it made the start up noise and went to the silver apple. Now it keeps switching between the two. I've tried plugging it into the wall charger and my doc to see if it helped any, but it didn't. Plz help me!
