My Galaxy Note 8 displays thousands of horizontal multicolored lines.

I have not turned on my Galaxy Not 8 in over 3 months. It has been stored inn a wood chest in my closet. I took it out. I tried to turn on, assuming I had let it with a full charge 3 months ago. It did not respond and the whole unit remained dark. I plugged it in to the old samsung charger...And a few moments later the screen came on but it was nothing but thousands of horizontal multicolored lines running the length of the screen. I tried to hit several buttons. I even held the power botton down and performed the system reset function by holding down that combination of buttons as well. Nothing. The screen would go black momentarily as tho the power were off, but it always go back to the multi colored verticle lines. Can anyone help point me in the right direction as to the problem and if it is a simple fix? Thank you.
