I’m lost here. Replace the screen on this phone a few days ago. Customer complained of ear speaker not functioning. Replaced front camera, flex, and prox. Replaced ear speaker. Both high-quality OEM. Transferred over complete earpiece upper assembly. Including the black tape. Still nothing, what am I missing?

I've found the proximity sensors to be very delicate, so that would be my first guess.
I also found that there's a little piece of black tape that's supposed to stay on the proximity sensor and more often than not it seems to have a mind of its own and wanders around. If it's not on the sensor it will short against the phone and the ear speaker will fail. You can use Kapton tape as a substitute.

Sounds to me like the phone has absolutely been opened and worked on.
