I forget my password

If you only just got it the other day, and have input absolutely no data into the phone, then chances are you can safely do a hard reset. Next time, though, try and write down your password somewhere so you can fall back on it in the event this happens again.

The procedure is the same for every Android device, but the button layout changes sometimes.

To reset your phone:

• Turn off your phone.
• According to various online sources, press and hold the Power, Volume +, and Home buttons at the same time until a scary-looking recovery screen is shown.
• Of course, if you didn't already let go of the buttons by the time this screen came up, do so now.
• You should now be in the RECOVERY MODE of the phone. Don't freak out if the touchscreen doesn't work -- you go about the menus completely with the Volume + and - buttons. The Menu button should be the select button.
• Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset (or equivalent if different). Select Yes and let it go.
• Wipes usually only take a minute. After waiting a bit, you might be left at the Recovery Mode menu again. Just hit Reboot System Now.

The system will reboot like you got it out of the box, and you should be able to redo your user preferences.
