Why isn't my s6 showing any sign of life?

My phone's recent apps and back buttons stop functioning. Eventually they came back on and only the recent apps button worked. After a while the phone was on the charger one night and when i turned it on, it was saying dm-verity verification failed/need to check drk first. Now the phone is completely dead when charging or not, the phone has no led indicators or anything. I have noticed that when plugged in the battery unusually heats up. Could it be a battery problem?

Have you tried doing a soft reset on the device? If that does not give you any signs of life, try to put the phone into its Boot Menu by simultaneously pressing the home button, volume up, and power button. If the phone enters the Boot Menu, then try clearing the cache and rebooting it. If the phone does not go into the Boot Menu, then the OS may be corrupt on the device.

If it does, there may be some further hardware issue going on with the device as your buttons are attached to your charging port. Last resort, try wirelessly charging the device. If it powers on, then you know there is an issue with the charge port.

Thank you for your reply Jaz, I unfortunately dont have a wireless charger. However, neither soft or hard boot button combinations allow the phone to come back to life.
