Problems installing new drive

Hi,

I hope there is still someone here who can answer my question. I did all the steps, including checking if my SMC and EFI is up to date.

Once I set up a location parameters, date and all after the install, I rebooted the computer with the disk already plugged in to SATA and my MacBook Pro doesn't boot!

I get a folder with the question mark on it. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

MacBook Pro late 2008 15" and trying to install fresh system on SSD drive.

Did you install the OS onto the correct drive? The blinking question mark is telling you the drive does not have the OS installed.

You'll need to connect your old drive externally so you can then boot up under it. Hold the Option key when you restart the system so you can select your HD. Then run the OS installer again making sure you've selected the new drive.

Sorry I missed the fact you have an older system ;-{

What is the SSD make and model you have here? Remember this system only has a SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) interface so the drive you are putting in needs to support this speed.

Hey Dan, thanks for your answer.

Weird stuff. I did install the system on the right drive. When new drive is connected to SATA cable on its own, it doesn't boot. When holding option and getting in to boot manager, it give me option only to boot in to new recovery drive. But when I do that it freezes and no entry sign appears. When I connect it to USB drive it boots up perfectly fine.

On the other when I boot it with the old disk connected into SATA all works fine.

When new drive is connected in to SATA and the old one to USB, I can boot it up but via USB and when I go to recovery partition and try to change startup disk to the new one, it gives me "you can't change the startup disk to the selected disk. The bless tool was unable to set the current boot disk. "

Would you say it's the SATA? Why It works fine with the old drive and fail on the new one than?

Thanks a lot
