Why won't this phone quit vibrating?

Hey guys,

I recently did a screen replacement on an iPhone 5c. Nothing out of the norm. However, during the swap, the phone started vibrating uncontrollably with no screen connected to it. I disconnected the battery until the repair was done and then, obviously, reconnected the battery. As soon as it came back on, it was vibrating uncontrollably again. I reset the device and it seemed to have made it stop for the time being. Today, it started to do it again. Is there a permanent fix for this? I'm sure that I could keep resetting it all the time but that seems like a bit of a pain. Thanks in advance!

Did it have water damage? Also check the buttons cable, it might be improperly connected.

No water damage. I have seated/reseated the cables multiple times. The thing that gets me is that it was doing it without any cables from the screen being connected.

My guess is that you've damaged something, leaving the battery connected while changing the display. Let's try a force restart, and see where we go from there. Likely need to replace something

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. What would have been damaged? I wasn't touching the phone at all when it started to do it.

You clearly got ripped off on the T-Shirt. If you've left it connected to battery, while playing around in there, all sorts of things could'be happened. You'll want to disconnect the vibrator motor, and swap it out for a new one. Just in case. Doesn't really sound like that's the issue though. Sounds like something is giving the motor power. With that being said the mute button is on the same flex, and faulting that could also make this happen

We are missing something here. OP has not said he has tried it with screen attached.

Does the screen connectors look physically fine on the board? No pins misaligned / damaged, dirty or worn-out?

Also you did try with the screen plugged in right? Or front camera unplugged?
