Why won't it take a charge or turn on?

There could be something wrong with the charging board inside. It could also be something simple - Is the charger plugged in correctly in the wall and in the iPad? Is the charger broken? You might also try holding in the home button and power button at the same time. The iPad might have been force restarted and therefor appear dead until it gets started back up.
