Setup fails to find printer, printer and Windows says connected

Setup fails to find printer, control panel and Windows shows it is connected. I can print a test page from Windows but the Brother software install does not find the printer whether it is connected over wifi or USB. I have spent four hours on this, checked firewall and anti virus settings, searched online, etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I figured it out, finally. I had to get the IP address from the control panel on the printer and go into the custom network setup in the Brother installation package and enter the IP address. Then it finally found the printer and installed the software. It was weird that both the printer control panel and Windows said the printer was connected but the Brother install wizard couldn't find it. Anyway, It is now setup and working. Hopefully this information might save someone else the 4 hours I spent on this.

Done. I did that at first but the site suggested that I should post it as a comment. Hope this helps.
