Replaced Screen, works, but goes into boot loop, fixed by taking apart

My wifes iPhone 6 has water in it killed the screen but the water slash liquid wasnt like conductive, it was a medical water thing for the ears.

Anyway ordered a new screen replaced it all and it worked fine. But the next day it turned off, i took it apart again and as soon as i got the screen off it turned on and worked perfectly. So issue is once i close it it stops working.

It happens when i put the top pins in and bend the screen into to close someting seems to be making it reset into a boot loop and dead.

Any ideas?

UPDATE

Hi Team, so i managed to replace the camera & battery. First two days it worked perfectly everything is back to normal. No restarts no crashes.

Then today, it seemed I was bit rough in my movement with the phone and it crashed and restarted in my hand.

So, so far replaced:

  • Main Camera
  • Battery
  • Screen

Basically if you hit it hard enough in your palm it restarts.... Any ideas what could be causing this?

Also if you shake it when it turns off it boots up again, but as soon as its in desktop it turns off again.

完成的

Unplug the front camera ribbon cable and see if it still boot loops.

Patryk, water is water...it is conductive even if it's medicated water for the ears. You need to clean out as much of it as possible, either on your own or via a professional shop. The sooner you do this the better.

The water is inside the phone, on the logic board and under the shields, even under the IC's. The real problem is the corrosion that is taking place as the water evaporates. Powering on the phone accelerates the process.

Here's what you can try yourself:

  • Open your phone and remove the logic board (follow this guide)
  • Inspect the logic board, especially around the connectors and look for corrosion.
  • Inspect both sides of the board. Unfortunately, 80% of the board is covered in shields. That's usually where the damage is occurring.
  • Put your board in a container with >90% isopropyl alcohol and let it sit for a while.
  • Use a soft brush, like a toothbrush and lightly brush away any corrosion you see.
  • Rinse in alcohol and repeat.
  • Let it air dry for a day.
  • Re-assemble and hope for the best.

UPDATE (03/16/2017)

Did you clean as I suggested? Did you notice any areas that had been contaminated with water? Based on your updated comments, it appears as though there is a problem on your logic board. There must be some corrosion, visible or not, that is causing an intermittent connection.

A professional repair shop that does water damage repair may be able to save your phone because they have access to pro-level ultrasonic baths and specialized cleaners.

Thanks mate will do that tonight, take it all apart.

To note if i hold the power button and shake the phone it powers on then after awhile it turns off again.

Could this be another symptom to water damage?

完成的

Could be...it sounds like there is a flaky connection and that could be caused by corrosion on one of the connectors.
