How can I replace Plexiglass?

Hello everyone, I was doing a screen repair on my little brothers MacBook and all was perfect until I went to attach the back light ribbon cable. I had it the wrong way round with pins facing up instead of down but before this I thought the problem was coming from the back itself so I tried to get down to the back layer and in doing so I have cracked the plastic layer down the middle.

Very stupid of me. Anyway to me this looks like nothing special other than a piece of Perspex/Plexiglass... Can I just get a measurement of Perspex cut for it to work like normal or is there something special about the ones Apples install into these MacBooks? I can't seem to find any replacement Plexiglass.

Thanks again,

Jamie

If you are talking about the back layer of the backlight sheets, I believe it is stuck to the aluminium backing itself. Most sheets are swappable from another assembly (which is a nightmare to do without scratching or getting dust behind), but the plastic bit is not.

I would say your best solution is to buy a new assembly at the moment, or just see what it looks like with a new screen (will usually cause white backlight marks in the background). It sounds like you have taken out all of the backlight sheets at this point, so even if you manage to replace the backing and the backlight sheets, you will definitely see dust and scratches behind the new screen, so it won't look nice.

If you want it to look good at this point, buy a new screen :)
