Why won't microphone support screw bite?

On my wife's iPhone6, I was inspecting the bottom microphone. Basically the bottom mic stopped working to pick up speech. it would pick up blowing directly on it but not speech. Anyway I decided to remove the pentalobe screws, open the phone and then remove the microphone support so I could inspect the microphone hole. The phone was repaired once by a local shop before. The microphone support screw came out normally but when I went to replace it, the screw would not bite into the bottom board. I assume all these little Phillips 00 are the same diameter just different lengths. I'm guessing the last go round they might have stripped the socket threads? Any suggestions on getting the screw to set again?

Inspect both the screw and the threaded hole . try running the screw into the hole without the microphone in place just to see if it will still thread in . If all is good then reseat the mic and make sure its down as far as it can go then run the screw in if necessary apply a little downward pressure . Make sure you don't cross threat the screw by making sure you have it perfectly straight . If it doesnt thread down without the mic then find another screw from another area of the phone that's the same length and try it. Just to clarify you were using the same screw you took out right? There are a few screws on the iphone that are different lengths and do need to be returned to the same spots on the phone . if you get them wrong they can cause serious problems with bottoming out and shorting the phone. At the time I did try threading a screw in the socket without the microphone support in place to rule out using too short of a screw. The only 3 screws I removed when I did this were the 2 penatalobes and the mic support so I was trying the Phillips head. I haven't tried a screw from another part of the phone yet. For the mic support the threaded hole looks like it is a graphite donut inside a metal ring. I was guessing that bit softer and was stripped during a prior repair. I remember it looking like it had some loctite on the screw so maybe the shop stripped it... would explain why it "loosened" but wouldn't tighten again.

There are three Phillips screws that look similar for headphone jack and bottom microphone.

The bottom microphone is the longer one.

Headphone jack uses two shorter ones.

Check those 3 screws.

Probably the longer one screwed into headphone jack screws.
