Water damage won't power up.

Hi

My cats knocked a glass of water over onto my laptop during the night. It was closed and I had not shut it down and it was plugged in to the power supply. So much water got in that it dripped out when I picked it up in the morning. I put it in a bag of rice and waited 7-8 days before trying to turn it on and I could never get it to power on. I'm wondering now if it could possibly be remedied by replacing the battery. My girlfriend has the same laptop so I could potentially borrow her battery to test it out. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

No, replacement of the battery isn't going to help unfortunately. Even if the battery isn't working at all, your computer should be fully functional if the charger is plugged in. If you have some experience with a soldering iron and multimeter, I can help you try and diagnose and fix your logic board, otherwise your laptop will need to be sent in for logic board repair.

So I dumped coffee on my keyboard Monday and went to Apple's Genius Bar last night. My 15" Mid 2015 Macbook would NOT power on.

Apple does NOT fix any water damage. They send it out to a 3rd party with a turnaround time of 3-5 days.

The Macbook will be 100% refurbed and they will attempt to save the data. They will fix everything, not just water damage.

13" Macbooks are $750 + tax Flat Rate.

15" Macbooks are $1240 + tax Flat Rate

Note: They have a flat rate price for all Apple products that have water damage. They don't give a quote. It will be that price no matter what.
