Has anyone ever used conductive glue

Im trying to repair a remote keypad for a robotic arm Im working on and it has a flex trace cable that has clips on the end that require soldering but as the cable is plastic it will melt long before the solder. Ive been looking online and checking out conductive glue and wondering if any of you have used it and how well does it work

@jimfixer - I've mostly used it for EMI shielding when I've damaged a shield.

The problem you'll face is the movement of the part will cause it to breakdown. It also won't carry a high current load.

@danj thanks for your response, does it dry brittle, if so what if I were to coat it with other glue or epoxy will it hold its current load or will other glue cause a problem?

Hi @jimfixer

I've used it with varying results to coat the contact surface of TV (as well as pvr and A/C unit) remote control unit's push buttons. (just a smear of glue to provide the conductivity required to s/c the board contact strips when the button is pressed)

On some it has lasted the distance and is still working whilst on others it has peeled off. So like @danj stated movement seems to be the major problem when trying to use it.

I won't call it brittle, just not strong. I wouldn't overcoat it just make sure the part does not shift or flex at the break.
