Screen worked and now is black and sometimes shows vertical lines

I had to replace the charging port on the Note 4. The screen was working fine before and after I replaced the charging port the screen is black now, even if I use the old charging port. If you take the battery out while it is on it will show vertical lines on a black background on the left hand side of the screen, and then the screen will obviously remain black.

I can turn the phone on and everything else seems to work, the menu keys are light up, the status light is on, it just all seems to work except the screen.

I have tried taking out the battery, holding down the power button for 2 and a half minutes, and then keeping the battery out for 15 minutes and nothing came from it.

I am at a loss here, is the screen defective or is this that issue "Note 4 Screen Unresponsive" I keep seeing on the Internet?
