Upgrading my MacBook Pro's RAM

Hello,

For a while I've been trying to change my MacBook Pro 13' Mid 12' 4 GB RAM.

In checking Apple's own tutorial HERE, I found out that I can only increase my RAM to maximum 8 GB and for better performance I should implement two 4 GB RAM modules rather then one 8 GB module.

So my questions are:

  1. Can I in anyway possibly change my RAM to 16 GB or is it merely impossible?
  2. Is the performance with the two 4 GB RAM much better then with one 8GB RAM? Is it worth paying nearly the double amount for such performance?

Standard RAM: 4 GB Maximum RAM: 16 GB*

Details: 4 GB of RAM is installed as two 2 GB modules, no slots free.

RAM Type: PC3-12800 DDR3L Min. RAM Speed: 1600 MHz

*Apple officially supports a maximum of 8 GB of RAM, but third-parties have determined that this model actually is capable of using up to 16 GB of RAM with two 8 GB memory modules.

Thanks for the answer. But how trustworthy are those third parties? Am worried if it well not work or even worse cause any damage to my macbook.

Thanks Any way!

Very trust worthy!

Double that here! We've boosted quite a few MacBook Pro's to 16 GB without a hitch! One thing to make sure you use a matched pair of modules (bought at the same time from the same source).
