Vizio e550i-b2; thin dark horizontal line across screen

I have a Vizio E550i-b2 television. It is about two years old now. Today I noticed a faint horizontal line about five inches from the bottom of the screen. It is not a typical colored line (red nor white) but just a thin line that is darker than the rest of the tv. Maybe a quarter of an inch thick. Also, the line does not go all the way across. It starts on the right side and ends a few inches before it reaches the left side. What could this be?

**I am finding replacement boards all over the internet, but cannot find a replacement LCD panel anywhere. Are these not available?**

I called vizio tech support and the issue is static build up in the circuit . I unplugged for a minute and held power button for 5 sec . Plugged back in and it worked . 65”E series . 1 1/2 years old . They honor warranty also within a year of purchase

Hi,

It may be a faulty Tab connection to the LCD panel.

Replacement panels are how to find and if you are lucky enough to find one it is nearly as expensive as a new TV.

You could try removing the back cover off the TV (with the power disconnected) and locate the LCD panel part number which is usually printed on the back of the LCD panel itself.

Search online using just the number (do not include the terms Vizio or lcd screen etc., this will just skew the results) and see if you get any results. Do not be surprised if Vizio is not mentioned in the results as LCD panels are usually made by specialist manufacturers on behalf of the various TV makers.

If you cannot locate a LCD panel an option to consider is to try and sell your TV as 'faulty-good for parts' to try and recoup some of the cost of a new TV.
