Camera crashed while taking a video

I was recording a video on my camera when the phone just went to the lock screen and crashed the camera app. The video doesn't show up anywhere in my gallery. Is the video lost forever? Is there a way to recover it even though there isn't a file shown as corrupted or anything? It was a really important performance I was recording of my sister and I'm afraid the camera didn't save anything.
