I cant get new replacement cd drive to work.

So my wii stopped reading discs so I got a new followed the guide on this website to replace it and followed everything correctly but the new one wont even accept discs. Its like its not being properly powered even though I am certain it is plugged in correctly. I was wondering if there is some kind of jumper i need to switch so the drive can be powered or something I can do so it will work. It cant be the power chord because the old drive will still take discs and spin them just not read them.
