converting Seagate NAS HDD ST 2000VN000 into an external hard drive
as per question title, bought this hard drive in error would like to know use it as an USB drive. Is it possible? and with Time Machine with apple system

Absolutely no problem. You need to get a 3.5 inch HDD enclosure. I prefer a ICYDOCK or LaCie; these have stable power supplies. connect the power and USB cable. When you connect it with your Mac - it will ask you if you want to make a Time Machine Drive. Say YES.
