ASUS 15.6" F550 Laptop. Similar model numbers F550C, F550CA, F550CC, F550E, F550EA, F550L, F550LA, F550LB, F550LC, F550V, F550VB, and F550VC. It was released in 2017.

What is my laptop's power problem?

I plugged my power adapter to charge the laptop. The red led came up indicating charging. I expected it to turn green after four hours indicating fully charged but it won't, so I put on the system to checked the charged percentage. To my surprise, THE GREEN LED FOR POWER ON AND NUMBER LOCK CAME UP, THE COOLING FAN START WORKING BUT THE SCREEN DIDN'T DISPLAY.

I detach the power adapter from the laptop and immediately the system went off SIGNIFYING THAT THE BATTERY ISN'T CHARGED AT ALL.

I tried putting the system on without plugging the adapter but it won't come up. I plugged the adapter and put on the system, it was on but no display. The charging led was on as well. I removed the battery without unplugging the adapter. The system remained on but the charge led went off. I reinserted the battery, the charging led came up again. I left the system like that, on but no display, for another two hours after which I removed the adapter and immediately the system went off.

ANY HELP PLEASE?

Hi, Can you connect an external monitor and see if you get a display?

The display is now working. I refix the display flex and the display came up. The battery signal indicate charging but remained 0%

What did you do to "refix the display flex" ? Do you have a multi meter to check the output of your charger? and check the continuity of the cables . if you've had the machine open check the power port for bad solder joints look for cracks around the solder points. if you lose the ground it wont charge but still show its charging or connected

I removed the screen flex from its slot on the motherboard and fix it back. I did the same thing for HDD, CDROM, WiFi card, ram.

The output is 17.8v.

How do you mean by "lose the ground"?

@profkenny123 Check the voltage against what is shown on the power adapter, not 100% sure but I think it should be close to 19v . By loss of ground I mean if the pin for the ground on the power port is broken or cracked the machine will not charge yet it will or may still show power in . There are 2 anchor points and a power and a ground all soldered to the board. look closely at the joints this pickture shows what a broken solder joint looks like . this is not the actual power port for your machine its just to show what to look for
