Problem - Blackscreen after display assembly replacement

Hi, just replaced the display assembly on my mac and currently have a black screen.

I think i may have damaged the thin piece of foil on top of the inverter but i am unsure if this would cause the screen to be black.

The replacement display is brand new and i am only replacing it because the previous screen got smashed.

The screen has flashed once or twice but apart from that it has been black and the apple logo on the back unlit.

The chime still happens when i switch it on but the button backlights are sometimes on/sometimes off.

The only other thing worth mentioning is that i had tried to replace the ram cards with a suitable upgrade but was unsure if this could cause problems so reverted back to the original cards.

Thanks for any advice provided!

Did you order(get) the right screen? There are 2 different screens for alu Unibody Macbooks. The thing is, Apple changed the screen connector position on the logic board as well as the pin layout in the connector. Also, the display cable has a different shape. If you connect the different generation screen to the logic board, it will burn the backlight fuse.

Hi, thanks for the answer, the screen eventually switched on...although I had to reinstall ios onto a new hard drive...the screen has blacked out again (after a week) and I am complety perplexed to what the problem is.

If you move the display, when it is powered on, doesn't turn off, or shows something unusual on the screen?

You can also try to move the screen cable with an ESD safe tool, after you remove the cable protector. Open it in 45 degrees, upside-down, and you can see the display.

If nothing, then a component on the logic board may dying.
