Phone doesn't charge after replacing screen, battery, charging port

Hello,

I found an iPhone 6 laying in the back of our shop with a cracked screen. I replaced the screen. I turned the phone on and saw a couple of icons. A battery with a red line on the left side and what looked like a charging cable. I left the phone on a charger for a few hours, but phone still had no charge. I temporarily put new battery in (just laid new one on top of existing one). The phone booted up. Battery showed 39%. I plugged phone back into the charger, but the new battery wouldn't charge, either.

I replaced the charging port assy, but still no luck charging either battery.

Any ideas?

Also, after installing the new charging port assy., I got an error message about 'cable may not work in phone'. This message went away after a couple of re-boots, but I'm not convinced it will stay gone.

Sounds like the IC U2 chip needs replacing. This controls the throughput from charge port to battery via the logic board. If this chip is damaged the phone will not charge at all, whether you replace the charge port assembly, charger, battery or all 3. Replacing it requires microsoldering. I can't do this myself so I usually send them off via postal repair. You can find people to do this type of repair work on eBay for around £30 in the UK (may vary with exchange rates for other countries). Check with the seller first and they will help you diagnose the problem before you agree and pay for the service, but this sounds much like the problem I have had a few times and this is generally the fix. Hope this helps

Thanks phonesurgeon. I recently took a soldering class, so maybe I'll take a shot at it later when I have more time (and can get a U2 chip ordered).

Why is my S8+ still not charging after I replaced the charger port and put new battery it was working when I powered on with new battery but when I replace port now nothing!?
