My Mac doesn't charge its battery. Adapter and I/O board are fine.

Hello everybody.

My MacBook Pro 13" 2.53 GHz (Mid 2009) stopped after a short in the circuit at charging section. The isolation around the pins at the DC in board was gone. When connecting the MagSafe plug to the Mac the short circuit took place.

I replaced the DC in board with a new one and also a burned MOSFET on the logic board.

After that the Mac starts up and works fine. No problems connecting the MagSafe plug. Only the battery won't charge. When I connect the MagSafe cord to the Mac I don't see the LED on the plug (green or red). On the display I do see the charging mark at the battery but it doesn't charge when I look at the submenu.

Tried other MagSafe adapter, battery, DC in board, with no results. Battery in another MacBook Pro works fine.

Which components can be damaged on the logic board. Any help please.

Thanks very much.

I would recommend you install this little gem of an App: coconutBattery. It can help isolate what your problem is.

I do have that app Dan. It confirms the battery is not charging. Only it offers no more information. I have to find more broken components. Thanks.

From the sounds of it you may have burn't more than one MOSFET and the voltage comparator logic may also be damaged.

Do you have access to the systems schematics? You'll need them to get a handle on things here.

Thanks Dan. I think your right. I don't have access to schematics. It would help if I know which parts I have to check to find the problem. I have another logic board with spare parts ( has only videoproblems and charges well). Replacing parts is no problem, only which part(s)?
