Microphone stopped working after replacing USB board.

I've replaced the USB board as the phone stopped charging but ever since installing the new (genuine) part, the microphone has stopped working. When I test it in a call or with the voice recorder app, all I get is a cracking sound.

I've tested to see if the new part is faulty by reinstalling the old board but all I get then is silence.

I've checked all of the ribbon cables and leads that I had to unplug to get the board out and they seem to be properly seated and undamaged.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Faulty microphone on charging port assembly probably. I'd try another one. Just make sure the flex cable is fully plugged and clipped in.

I don't think it is this because I've tested the microphone on the old board and that no longer works either whereas it did before replacement.
