Whenever I use the keyboard, it only goes into voice record.

So I've gotten a hold of this Razr from a friend who had it in a desk since '07 and it was in pretty pristine shape. I've been using it lately and today (02/02/16) after a phone call I attempted to go make a text. When I hit a key in the middle, its unresponsive, but if I hit one on the left side of the keyboard or anywhere else, it brings up the voice recorder. I'm able to shut the phone down, but neither that or taking the battery out is helping with it. Is there any alternative beyond going all out repair mode on it?
