Home button somewhat works

My home button hasn't been working for a while now. I recently found out that the gold prongs on the left side of the dock broke off from a screen replacement. Well i found a solution to that problem which was apply a thin strip of foil where the prongs were so that the connecter on the lcd touches it, and turns out that solved the problem! Because my iphone was stuck in the boot loop and without a working home button there was nothing i could do, but i fixed it now....

Now my current problem is that the home button isn't responding as a home button, im unable to go to the home screen or multitask. but it works when i put it in recovery and DFU mode.

What could be the problem?
