I replaced the battery on my Kindle HD 8.9. After closing it up, it won't turn on. I placed it on a charger and nothing seems to be happening. Is the new battery usually completely dead, or is something not back in place properly?

Hi,
First, have you checked that your charger works? Your new battery may not have enough charge to start your Kindle.
If it is alright you'll probably have to open it up again and check that all the connections are properly in place.
You've probably been here, but here is an IFIXIT link which shows how to remove your battery.

I have the same problem. I was very careful to connect the new battery correctly. It charged, and the green light came on. When I tried to click on the Home screen, the screen saying 'Empty Battery' wouldn't go. Feel I've just chucked 20 odd quid down the drain!
