I dropped my Xiaomi Mi 3 in water, what do I do?

At this unfortunate situation, what you should NOT try to do after removing your phone from the liquid is to turn it on. If you do so, a short circuit may occur to your device taking the risk of having a permanent damage.

Wipe off the phone with a dry towel as best as possible. Remove any accessory on your phone such as phone cases and the SIM card. You can then use a hairdryer on COLD setting to dry the phone, and then put the phone in a warm area to dry for a day. Make sure your device is dry and attempt to power the phone on. If the phone cannot be powered on after being completely dried off then some of its components were likely damaged and the phone will require further inspection of its internal components to return the phone to operational condition.

Try drying your phone where the sun shines but not too much light and leave it for 5 days. Don’t try opening or restarting your phone until 5 days drying. Make sure no one disturbs it. Also remove the back case of your phone and Sim Card ( If you have some) before drying it out. Hope this would be helpful.

Letting it sit around in a dry place makes sense but the problem with that is that there is probably still going to be some moister left inside the phone. What you really need to do is get the device opened up so you can be sure you get all the water out of the device and clean up any corrosion that may have started. If you don’t have the skill to open your device up yourself take it to a local repair shop that does water damage repairs.

my method is get jar full of dry rice … switch off phone… sink phone into rice completely… wait 1-2 days… Dry rice is hygroscopic, meaning that it can pull moisture out. REGARDS
