I have 2 RAM chips (2 GB PC3-10600S-09-11-b2) from an upgrade. My A1342 has 2 1GB PC3-8500 RAM chips. Could I use the PC3-10600S chips in the A1342?

No. Those laptops take PC3-8500. Even if it fits, it won't work for you.
