Head phones and auxiliary port.

I've had problems with my headphone port since I got it January. It used to get staticy when I tried turning it up all the way when I would use the auxiliary cord for the radio, and you have to turn the volume up really loud to hear any songs, but lately it hasn't done that, but it won't work on headphones. I just got a brand new ear buds and it won't have anything coming through to the headphones. It says that it's plugged it, but it still has the sound coming from the device. I don't know what's wrong and if I need to replace it.
