Q1 charging device for Dell Venue Pro 8.1?

I've hardly used my now 13 month old Dell Venue Pro 8, and have always been extremely careful with it, but the charging jack failed me anyway - and according to the www, I'm far from alone. Seems there's hundreds (if not thousands) of us with the same problem.

I called Dell - but with y unit just falling off warranty, they said if I send it to them, and pay them $360, they can fix the bad port. WHAT? I paid about $500 for it (with a few upgrades) just 13 months ago, and have barely used the thing.

I've been trying to find out if there a Q1 charging option, but so far, no luck.

So I'm asking here - does anyone know? Or otherwise, anyone else found a fix for this?
