iPhone 3 locked out

I have an iphone 3 and i locked myself out of it, it tells me to connect to itunes so i can reset my phone. But when i connect it to itunes it said that it isn't connected as it's locked with a passcode (a thingI ALREADY KNOW!) and that i must enter passcode before it can be used with Itunes! PLEASE HELP I REALLY WANT MY OLD IPHONE BACK

Shut it down. Once it is done powering off, hold the home button and while you press the homebutton you plug it in to your computer. You are now in recovery mode. Open itunes and restore it. That will erase all data including the passcode!
