Do I need to change the Loudspeaker?

Hi !

I used my phone (sony xperia z) under the water for about 15-20min for taking some photos, after that as usuasl water got in the loudspeaker hole.

Left the phone for about 1-2h to dry and after that sound coming from louspeaker was the same (low, vaguely...) so i tried to take the water from loudspeaker by myself by shaking the phone and hitting it to make the water get out. Water got out but after 2-3 hours i noticed that loudspeaker isn't working at all and when i shake or push the phone on the place where is the loudspeaker (on the sides and back) it sounds again, then it stops and with a little shake start to work and again stops... it's like i disrupted some connection. The loudspeaker by it self it's working it not damaged but some connection or something inside is disrupted (i think).

So is there any way to fix this thing by NOT opening the back cover? or any other suggestion ? Thanks !

Try a can of compressed air. :)

already tried, it brings back the sound but after a little shake or when i drop the phone on table or put it in the pocket it stops again. but thanks for suggestion !

It's more than likely it would need opening up, maybe something has corroded and is causing a disconnection with it.

It would either need cleaning or replacing.

If you do decide to open it, I would highly recommend purchasing pre cut adhesive, as you can then get it water resistant again if you replace or clean it.

There's a thing you can use to check the pressure on the phone to see if it is water resistant still, will get you that soon, or you could try with Sony under warranty?

The warranty has expired, bought this phone about a year ago also we don't have here official store or service of Sony (Kosovo). Actually i tried something, from the side where is the loudspeaker hole i opened it (just took out the side plastic and the gum covering the hole) and just pushed a bit with a needle and now it is working fine, but if this is just a temporary fix definitly going to open the phone.

BUT ANYWAY THANKS AGAIN A LOT !
