Digitizer connector replacement?

I had ordered a new screen LCD for my phone replacement went perfect! However after having trouble placing the digitizer on the connector, I looked at my old one from my shattered screen and it is the wrong head (connector). Any suggestion on what to do? I know I cannot return it since it has already been installed. Any way to use the head from the old digitizer and remove the old HEAD (CONNECTOR) only and connect the correct size?
