The top logic board bracket is attached to the camera housing...

of the camera I wish to replace. Now, when ordering new cameras they don't come with this bracket as it's supposed to be removable. The question I have is how necessary is this bracket? Or, is it a good idea to snip it off the old camera housing and use it like that? It doesn't appear to do anything with the camera itself, but appearances can be deceiving.
