How to use my CDMA technology without sim card in Philippines?

My aunt from abroad gave my this HTC Hero2000 phone which has no sim slot.

I can't use it here in Philippines since we have GSM technology here. I also can't use mobile network for surfing.

Is there any alternative to use this phone here? Thank you.

Sadly, a CDMA only phones won't work in a country that only has a GSM cell network. Here's a small writeup on the two technologies: CDMA vs. GSM: What's the Difference?

See if you can sell/trade-in your phone for one you can use in your country.

There is a solution but may or may not be ideal. What Dan says is correct but there is also an external dual sim adaptor out there that uses Bluetooth to pair with your phone. It allows a person who owns a CDMA mobile phone to use a GSM sim with it. The downfall is you would have to carry around two devices rather than just you phone. It sounds like people have had some success using it. You could always look into something like this.

The device I have read about is called Gmate or Gmate+ which is made by Skyroam. Hope this helps.
