Screen out / Digitizer works

My wife dropped her Galaxy Note 3 on one of the corners and the screen will not turn on. I opened the phone and inspected all the connections. Everything looked fine. Put it back together still no go.

I decided to buy a 5-in-1 MicroUSB MHL to HDMI adapter. I was able to unlock the screen save all the data. The screen on the phone never comes on. However I am able to use it, meaning the digitizer still works. I was able to navigate the phone by touch and I was able to see the response on my TV via the HDMI adapter.

Am I missing something here? I am trying to avoid buying a new digitizer for it if I can. I do not see any cracks on either the glass or the digitizer.
