SSD and second hd on 2014 Mac Mini?
It is possible to install an second hd on the new 2014 Mac Mini?
How difficult it is (if possible)?
You'll need to wait a bit until the world famous! IFIXIT Teardown team has a chance at tearing into one. Keep your eye on the main page here for the posting.
I think by SSD, you are actually referring to PCIe-based flash storage. I too am curious if one goes with the PCI-e storage option, if a 2.5" drive could still be installed. Isn't that what a fusion drive option is? If so, one could in theory have the Apple-installed 1TB PCI-e storage option and add a 1TB SSD. Some help here captain?
Is the 2.5" flex cable the same as that has been used for adding the second drive in the 2012 / 2011 Mac mini?
The iFixit approach to swapping out a SATA drive for an SSD on a Mid 2011 Mac Mini is formidable. Warning: backing your data on OTHER than a Time Machine might be important as the TM is wedded for life to the originating SATA. That said, if your SATA is alive and well, a Cmd-R boot allows you the optiong for the SATA to play a start up role, and then serve as needed as another (bootable) external backup drive.
