Proximity sensor and accelerometer not working after screen replacemen

I took my phone to a repair company to fix my cracked screen. At that time,that was the only problem i had with my phone. After the repair i noticed my proximity sensor only works every 3rd/4th call. Took it back and they checked it and according to them, it was fix. It still does the same thing,but now after they worked on it again,my 'up' volume button and my accelerometer is not working. My 'down' volume button still works fine though.

I contacted them again and they say it can't be them because the proximity sensor they fixed is not close to the accelerometer device and volume buttons. Is that true? I find it weird that those functions stopped working right after they worked on my phone. I would like to get more info before i take them on.

The screws for the plate holding down the connectors are too tight. Open it back up and loosen them, don't unscrew them completely, turn it on and see if they work again. It worked for me. Use the compass app of a roller ball maze game as a test. If it worked try to tighten them enough to make contact with the plate but not too much that you're back to square one again.

I just replaced the battery on my iPhone 6. Then, the screen rotation feature would not work. I read your answer and my wife said, “Overtightening the screws is certainly something you would do.” For 50 years I’ve had this kinda support! :-))) Anyway, that was the problem. Works great now! Thank you!

It is true that the cable responsible for the volume buttons is different from the one responsible for the proximity sensor. However, the connectors on the motherboard for these two cables, as well as the other display related cable are in fact very close to each other. It is possible that either the connector for the volume button controls was accidentally partially unseated when removing the screen, or that the cable or connector was damaged.

With regards to the accelerometer...it is my impression that the accelerometer is a component on the motherboard, rather than its own replaceable part. If that is the case (and I could be wrong on that), then it seems to me that it would be very difficult for a replacement screen to cause a problem with the accelerometer from a hardware perspective.

I replaced my screen myself (I've done it twice before) and on the third replacement the accelerometer no longer works. Tilting the phone sideways does not switch the orientation, portrait lock is off, and nothing I do will make the accelerometer work again. I apparently damaged something in the third screen replacement that caused this issue. I thought it may be a connecter issue but if the accelerometer is part of the motherboard than I'm not sure what went wrong.

Currently replacing my screen for the fourth time (I'm not very good with technology), I'll update if it magically works again.

if you screw the screws for the shield on the LB in to tight it can disable some features, also try a restore, the accelerometer issue happened to me on a 5c and a after a restore is worked again. regarding the volume button issue check the cable and the LB to see if the repairer has damaged any of the IC around the cable. If you in NZ buy a replacement sensor here Synced Repairs.

I also have the same problem… i replaced my power button and volume rockers ribbon and after that my volume down was not working. And i didnt notice that my compass and accelerometer also not working. What should be the error? Plz help me.
