Screen/Digitizer not sitting flush?

I have been working on this iPod for a while and I have yet to find a solution. I bought the new screen from iFixit and I followed the guides.

I got all the way to the end and as I set the screen down there is this very small gap that goes all the way around the iPod. The gap is largest around the top and middle, the bottom can sit flush but if I try to push it the screen ripples with colors. It also does this at the top.

The screen itself works perfectly fine, I am able to still use the iPod but it is not flush. (minus the home button because it has to sit flush in order to use the home button)
