2.26 or 2.4 GHz / White plastic unibody enclosure

Dual hard drive setup

Unibody Laptop Dual Drive

I want to buy the the optical bay converter that ifixit sell to replace my dvd drive with a second hard drive. I will get a new SSD to put in but thought I should check which of the two SATA connections is faster? The original one that my HDD is connected to or the one the dvd is connected to? Or are they exactly the same? I was thinking if one is faster than the other I should put the SSD in that one.

Also, I may not be keeping this computer for too long. If I buy a new laptop would it be likely or unlikely that I would be able to use this drive adaptor with it? It may not be a Mac so can someone tell me is there a common size for these types of converters? Or (like many other aspects) does Apple have very weird shaped dvd drives compared to other manufacturers so this converter would be useless in a new non-Apple computer?

Lastly, does anyone know which SATA revision this supports? SATA 1, 2 or 3?

Increase the storage space in your laptop by replacing the optical drive with a second hard drive or SSD.图片

Can you give us the last three digits of your systems serial number so we can correctly identify which exact model you have. Without it we can't really answer your SATA port question.

完成的

last three digits: f5w

As to the converter being usable in a different system (Mac or PC). the optical drive is a standard device but the mountings of the device is often unique between the different manufactures (across the board). So it likely won't work.

As to the newest version of the iMac or MacBook Pro line the optical drive had been removed in these systems so there is no place to mount it. In addition the SSD devices these models now using a custom blade SSD so your 3.5 or 2.5 SATA SSD won't work.

As to other laptop systems they are following Apples lead here to the newer standard so depending on what you buy it it many not have the option for either the optical driver or support for your SSD either.

The HD carrier is a pass-though device so the SATA I/O will be what your system is. In this case your MacBook 13" Unibody is SATA II (3.0 Gb/s).
