My ps3 doesn't read games but it will read dvds, and audio discs, it even reads burned movies and burned music cds.also after inserting a game, the ps3 makes a type of noise.
CDs and DVDs use red laser, blu-ray discs use blue laser. So one of the optical module is broken. Replace the drive chassis to fix the issue. Replacing the laser pickup only requires higher precision
