power control does not work.freezes
How to fix power control button? It freezes if it is slightly depressed. Must hold down in order to power off. Is it just a button failure? help

Try using menu (Apple->Shutdown) instead of the button. Bumping or quickly depressing the power button might cause a crash under "normal" situations.
I agree your power button could be going bad. You'd have to find one on e-bay or replace the entire top case.

Thank you for responding...it will power off but only if I hold down pwer button until it shuts down...that is when it freezes-actually as soon as I depress button it freezes. the option you suggested I will try
